Mark... I feel your pain buddy...

I've had a freakin campaign get basically no impressions for over a day now in the content network... i try everything. NADA... It's an "iPod downloads" campaign.

I have another campaign that has gotten 30,000 impressions in the last few days. THEY ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL. In fact, I created campaign A as a copy of campaign B. This one is an "iPhone downloads" campaign.

Something seems wrong honestly. How does my campaign for iPhones get 30,000 impressions while my iPod campaign gets basically none. Let me know if you figure anything out.

p.s. - i might jump into this video blogging thing. It helps listening to others pains and gains!

Trim down your keywords to 50 or so. If you want to run all 500 break them up in to ad groups.

mark I think you have too many keywords - I tend to use less than 100, and everyday I trim them down even more.

also I saw nbjmp.com/learnebay - try to just use ebay.com or grab a simple domain and use that to redirect

also - ebay is a very competitive word, very hard to target and get it on the first page of a search result - try trimming it down like auction sites, learn ebay, ebay tutorial, etc or just the ebay campaign is just way too broad to even have it listed

a really good trick is to go with a negative header and then description, more likely to get clicked. "eBay taught me Nothing" etc

sort also by quality score - I didnt see it on your window

when chosing keywords via google keywords try to also sort by competitive words from least to most - and then chosing the avg voluem search - it better to get impressions by least compettive words - I usually export it to an excel file and do some functions to help me determine my keywords

looking forwards to the next update!

Toptray - drop the list down to fifty and then..... raise the bids?
45n5 () says on December 4, 2007:
thanks for the tips ian, I'm off to trim the list down some shortly

also, I'm on the content network so they don't show me any quality score there.

Not necessarily raise the bids, you are just spreading to small of a budget among too big of a pool. Things might change dramatically by slimming things down first.

As always though.
Change, monitor, refine. Repeat.

You have to create more adgroups. Don't create one adgroup with 500 keywords. Creat 10-100 adgroups with each adgroup 1 keyword in broad, phrase and exact match. (total 3) You can add the plural versions with the 3 match types in too if you want.

The thing is, when advertising on the content network, the Google Adwords system will show your ad based on relevantie. If you have 1 adgroup with 500 keywords... google has a tough job to determin the relevantie. Make it easy for google. Create more adgroups with less keywords. (hey - You got the Adwords Editor to assist you here) Google will have less trouble to determin the relevantie, and your ad will finally show. :)

Good luck to you. I'll keep an eye out on your progress just a little. Also, if you need more adwords advice, I have an article site with great articles that can help you.

Best,
Yves Barneveld
