Should bloggers and website publishers use adsense or affiliate links on their websites?Once upon a time I would have thought adsense. Now I'm leaning towards affiliate links. I would suggest start with affiliate links. If they don't work rotate a dozen or so related affiliate links/banners. If that still doesn't work use adsense as a last resort.
Of course you could do a mix, but, if you had to pick one or the other to use on a website or recommend somebody else use on a website, which would it be?
Adsense Or Affiliate Links? What's your advice?

affiliate links all the way - it is so much more faster to see the income come in than adsense it took me I think 7 months to see my first adsense check
it took me like 2 days to get my first 100 from an affiliate system - its so much easier with affilaite networks and links - IMO

Hands down, it depends on your niche. I have an automotive site where AdSense works *much* better than affiliate links. Product-based blogs? Definitely affiliate links. Try both at the same time, it's not going to hurt.

I've always been an adsense guy. For some reason I have never had luck with affiliate links. Maybe i'm not patient enough? There is a certain satisfaction in knowing you are getting paid for each "click" and someone doesn't have to buy something.
Saying all that, I'm trying to convert a bunch of my sites from adsense to affiliate links. I think rotating offers is a great suggestion mark.

I think it really depends on the website. I sold a website earlier this year that dealt with international luxury homes and properties. Adsense generated almost $1000 a month on a continuous basis where affiliate links barely did $5.00 a month.
I have another site that is BBQ related where adsense does terrible but affiliate is really good.
I guess it comes down to how much you are going to get per click in a particluar niche. BBQ clicks are very low where real estate clicks can be 20 times higher.
I have yet to come across one that has a good even mix.... maybe someday I will find that one.
I currently have 11 websites/blogs active and they generate on average $250 a month in Adsense. If those numbers hold true on other niches I am preparing I could see a thousand a month again by the end of the year with 20 to 30 new blogs/sites in my network.
I am in the process of building a site that I hope to have ready by next holiday season that is all affiliate with approx 200 items....... i am putting a lot of hope in that one.
eric aka adsense.

I believe it should be a combination of the two.

Well there are a lot of factors that contribute either way so it's hard to say unless you know more about the site, the niche, the owner, resources, time, etc...If I have to choose right now then I say Affiliate links.

wow a mixed bag of answers. I think it comes down to it takes more work to make money with affiliate links but the payout is also higher ;)mike goad says on December 14, 2007
Right now, I don't have the time to mess with affiliate links, so I just use AdSense. Once I get my web-sites established better, I may try some affiliates, but not now. I want to publish content, not push affiliate sales.

I think that adsense really works well when you are NOT dealing with subject matter that targets webmasters and/or computer tech heads.
I have found that affiliate marketing works better with websites that are more in the "how to" markets (at least when you have blogs or actual sites).
Of course the *best* markets are those that don't have the tech savvy BUT are looking for a solution to their problem, like anti-virus software, ect.

For newbies, I would advice to use Adsense. Once traffic started flowing in, switch to affiliate

But are they as good as google?
I heard that if you do not use google adsense, your site won't be indexed?
or in the google search engine

"But are they as good as google?"some are WAY better. every situation is unique, that's why you need to find out what works for you situation.
"I heard that if you do not use google adsense, your site won't be indexed?"
That is not the truth. Very far from it. Half the internet wouldn't be indexed then.

I've never had much luck with AdSense, but I have sites where other PPC networks work okay. However, overall, I think affiliate links are the way to go, and on my new sites, that's the direction I'm leaning.

I had some affilate links on my top pages and bam the ranking feel until they were removed. Is there any specific google penalty for affilate or precieved affilate links?
Find Cheap buys says on April 24, 2008
I'm finishing up a new site design, where I'm going to remove google ads completely and focus purely on product ads IE amazon. I'll do a comparison of my EPC and post it.
