Buy an Expiring Domain

Grabbing an expiring domain with even the slightest potential worth by yourself is nearly impossible. Automated robots pound the servers the second they are released to obtain them, they then offer them for private auction to people who make an initial bid of 60$.

Three of the top places that try to grab expiring domains are pool.com, snapnames.com, and enom.com.

I noticed a three letter .com expiring today (NLN) and liked it so I thought I would get my feet wet in the domain expiration world and try to grab it.

I signed up for snapnames, pool, and was already a member of enom and then placed my initial bid of $60 at each.

Therefore if one of those three snag the domain name, I'll be entered into the private auction.

Note: If I'm the only person that bid I automatically win, if others bid the 60$ as well, it goes to private auction.

At 3 pm today I check to see who won the domain and it was SnapNames. Immediately I'm told I've been outbid, but Great, I'm in the auction now.

I look around to get the feel of how the live auction works and notice 18 other people have bid on the domain, OH No! that is a popular domain, hopefully the price won't go too high.

I've started bidding myself now and I'll have to wait three days until the end of the auction to see who wins. But all in all if I really want the domain and don't mind spending a few dollars it could be mine.
