I left a comment over twenty four hours ago at David's blog that is still in moderation.
I left a comment yesterday at Sarah's blog that never showed up.
I left a comment at BuildingMyEmpire (site is currently down) two days ago that never showed up.
Now I'm not picking on these people, I like all three of them and enjoy their blogs, I also recommend you subscribe to each one of them.
It makes my point nicely though: I Am a Commenting Loser
I seriously have the worst luck with leaving comments on people's blogs. I've talked to over 6 bloggers recently because I left a comment that never showed up.
Anywho,
Dave: You'll get my message when you moderate your comments.
Empress: I wrote thanking you for the link.
Sarah: The lightbox script is neat ONLY if you open it in a new window. If you open it in the same window (many sites do strangely), many people use the back button instead of the "close" button on the page so they can potentially go back to the site they were previously on (or at least previousPage-1) ;-( I've done if more than a few times.
This is because the "close" button isn't visible or is at the bottom of the page (I am enlarging the pic to begin with) and the natural behavior isn't to go down to find a close button, but to rather use a back button on a browser.

Found your comment in between the lovely spam in Akismet! Haven't a clue why you got caught up amongst the adult comments that fill my blog!
Anyway, rescued it (lucky I caught your post here before emptying Akismet!) and replied :) A new window isn't used as it's not considered accessible (Priority 2 or 3 I think) nor is it valid for XHTML strict. I'm not sure why you've had a problem with the back button as it doesn't seem to do it for me.
You're a good commenter, perhaps Akismet has you on the black list for some reason?
PS. Nice Traffic Rank ;)
For instance try www.jccommerce.com
Click on an image then use the browsers back button, I go back to previous page -1.
I assumed pages like that were using the same scr!pt, maybe not.
I think Empress uses akimet too, maybe my domain name that is short and numbers dies in askimet. I'm screwed on any blog using it as well then ;-(
The idea of the post was to have a place to point to when I mention my trouble commenting sometimes.
Aside: I left a comment at www.blogtrepreneur.com this morning that still isn't there, no sign if it is being moderated or it died.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hmm no I can't get the same effect. I went to google first, then chance's site (after disabling JS). Clicked the gun image and clicked back and returned to the previous page. Yes it looks like the same code to me (could be v1 but I wouldn't know how to tell!).
I'm not sure why your comment got blocked. Considering you're preauthorised on mine and have never been blocked before, and I've had Akismet running for a fair while now. However from what I understand when a comment is set as spam and then goes through Akismet, it updates a central site - but I could be completely wrong and making that up!
Still don't stop commenting, I'll just check my Akismet before deleting it all first in future :)
I'm looking at the scr!pt with javascr!pt Enabled, maybe that is the difference.
Just left another comment on your blog and aksimet ate it ;-(
I left comments recently at some blogs, which never appeared...I thought it was because I upgraded the browser to FF2 a few hours beforehand..
Seems to be OK now though.
Yeah... the site was down. My database had a bit of a hiccup (I had a nervous breakdown!). But I'm back ;)
Akismet caught your domain name - it could be the length of the domain, I'm not really sure how they work the whole "spam" thing. But I'm wondering how many other potential commenters got caught in the filter - that I didn't know about, because I don't often check to see if anything good got jammed in the 100's of spam comments I get daily.
Crappy. Crappy. Crappy.
As Sarah said in her post - don't stop commenting :) I'll be checking my Akismet more often!
Gary - Interesting thought however I've had the problems before Firefox 2.0. I think I'm blacklisted on aksimet.
Sarah - I commented again on 11-6 and it disappeared. Thanks for trying.
Empress - "Akismet caught your domain name", as I suspected I've been blacklisted. Their site says you should check "this isn't spam" and after enough times I will become blacklisted.
My comment still hasn't showed up at blogtrepreneur yet.
If I'm blacklisted I'm guessing most people with wordpress/aksimet have no clue I've even commented.
Now,,,,,,,
Who blacklisted me?
I'm sorry, I didn't get an e-mail about the moderation. It's approved now.
Thanks dave.
