This post inspired Empress and myself to start thinking about systems. For instance:

Can you create a page that earns just .15 cents per day?

Yes? Oh really, well, what are the variables that go into the page to create those results? (my email is in the banner ;-)

If I knew those variables I could duplicate my efforts, I sadly don't know them, yet.

But if I did know them, I could create 100 pages that earned .15 cents per day and make $5475 per year on the effort (.15 X 100 X 365).

Or create 400 pages with the "system" and make $21,900 per year (.15 X 400 X 365).

All with the knowledge of how to make a page earn .15 cents per day, or the collective of pages to average .15 per day.

I do know how to make stupid content though, pick a good topic, write like hell, and hope something sticks. Here's why my content is stupid:

I averaged roughly $10 per day this month. My guesstimate of pages I have running adsense is 1250. Here's the math on how much each page I have earns per day:

$10 divided by 1250 = .008

Every page of content I add to the internet ads less than a penny to my total earnings for every future day ($2.92 per year).

Downside: That is writing stupid content, and tons of it is needed to make money.

Upside: If my earnings stay the same per page, I know exactly what it takes to achieve financial goals.

For instance to earn $50 per day, I just need to write 6250 posts (.008 X 6250 = $50). I'm already 20% there, so to get to my goal I'm just short 5000 more posts!

Like I said, that is stupid content. Maybe I'll just write like mad until I get 5000 more, maybe not.

Here's an example of smart content. Once again I don't know what the variables are to create pages like this, so this is my perception of writing the right content in the right places on the right subjects:

"He started off with about a 20 page website about a month ago and right now it has about 40 pages indexed in Google. Yesterday the site brought in about $40 in AdSense earnings (which is not a lot, but the site is young). Within 2 months I expect the site to be able to make at least $200 a day."

Maybe you can create 1000 sites or pages, but can you still add fresh content to those sites? I dont think so, so then the traffic will go to slow down and income will be lower (if not zero). But I agree with that quantity think. If you want much money, you must have much sites. Its like in business. If you want big profits, you must have big factory.

I think you are forgetting about traffic in this equation. It is great that you are getting $10 per day from adsense. But just think if you could multiply your traffic by 10. That would be $100 per day!

Six months ago, my main site was getting 40-100 unique visitors per day. Now I am getting 400-600 unique visitors per day.

Work on your link building and publicizing your site!

Rubikon - "Maybe you can create 1000 sites or pages, but can you still add fresh content to those sites? I dont think so, so then the traffic will go to slow down and income will be lower (if not zero)."

You're making the assumption that google doesn't rank pages/sites without fresh content, which is false.

Affiliate MM - Thanks for the comment,

"But just think if you could multiply your traffic by 10."

I realize traffic is important, but that's thinking along the lines of dumb content, or mass numbers again, the same as throwing thousands of posts against the wall.

I took the same amount of traffic this month as last and made more than last month. So traffic isn't the end all.

I think so many people burn out is becuase they try to beat the numbers game instead of the smarter content game.

I haven't broken down the numbers yet, but I fear that they would be super dismal anyway. I'm not sure how to go about it yet - I have a gameplan, that I posted on my site. I think taking a look at the popular pages on my site would be a good start - knowing people are interested in that subject, and then building more pages around that topic. Might help sort out the stupid content... to "relevant" stupid content ;)
