Everybody repeat after me:
"Content without promotion is like locking William Shakespeare in a closet to write for you, you'll have great novels that no one will ever know about or read."

flavor flavYou might think the self proclaimed "hype-man" Flavor Flav wrote that, but it actually comes from another hype man Michael Gray.

The Seeds of Greatness

So you've got a post brewing that you know is unique, has appeal to a much broader audience, and darnit, you think should be extremely popular.

Problem; You are a small time blogger without the reach that the A-list bloggers have.

Therefore you can't simply sit there and "hope" people will find your post, you need to get off you bum and help people find your post, you need to make your content shinier, you need a Pre-Post Gameplan!

What techniques can you use to make your post even greater on Post Day?

Here are some required links that you should review and adjust your content accordingly before you post:

I need more great ones, leave a comment below...

Who do you want to pitch you blog to?

baseballThere is more behind the scenes emailing among bloggers then you could have ever imagined, and it's called PROMOTION!

Don't be afraid to put your emailing pedal to the metal and "politely" email some of the following:

-Pitch the article to Bloggers in other niches, however, who have written about your niche at least once in the past. Search google on your topic, if somebody has already written about your subject, they are a good candidate to be receptive to you email pitch.

-Pitch the Post to Popular Bloggers in Your Niche. An obvious choice. Whatever niche you are writing the article in, find the top bloggers and let them know your post exists.

-Pitch the Post to Your Readership. Invite readers to link to your post. Do any of your readers have popular blogs? Maybe shoot them an email to let them know "in case they missed it" they'd probably really like your latest post.

When Are you Going to make you post live?

I have no stats on this and my opinion would be early on Tuesday. If anybody has an opinion on when the best time to post a viral idea and start your promotion campaign is, please leave a comment. I think it's safe to say that 11pm on Saturday night is out of the question.

Should every post have a Pre-Post Gameplan?

Yes. However every Pre-Post GamePlan shouldn't be executed. Going through the exercise of the steps to promoting your posts will get you prepared for the time the big game comes.

I'm also curious (any a-list bloggers out there?) how often it is "ok" to pitch a blogger with your excellent content?

The best is yet to come!!!

bayI've got a great post in the works. I think the post has broad appeal IF I can get the word out. I could be wrong, but I'd be stupid to sit on my hands and "hope" to find out. So...

I'm putting together a Pre-Post GamePlan at this moment. I'm creating the list of who to email about the post, when to post it, doing a couple drafts, etc. And next week I'm going to make the post and implement my GamePlan.

I will post the results here of the Gameplan for you to see what works and doesn't a few days after the post is live!

If I hit a homerun you can see what exactly the efforts I used, and if I strike out, we can all learn from it.

So stay tuned, and if you haven't subscribed to this blog yet, now is the time to jump on board ;-)

note to self, add reader links to the original post (not a trackback spot or comments) if they let you know they linked you.

Well the best is to find relevant sites/blogs and exchange or BUY links.
Gameplan for every post? Yes, if you have time for it :)
